I recently played in a small no limit hold em tourney. first key hand midway through tourney pickup Qs/Th in the small blind 3 limpers and me see the flop of QQ5 with 2 clubs i check inaudibly looking to check raise unfortunatelly it is checked around. next card 2 of diamonds putting 2 diamonds on the board as well, once again i check hoping to get a check raise (there is only 800 in the pot and i have about 8600 in chips) 1 of the players is someone who will always take a stab at an respectively unraised pot, but once again it is checked around. the river is the K of spades remarkably killing any draw, now my thought process is this-I am sure i have the best hand and I'm pretty sure no one else has anything so if i raise the pot they will all fold and i win 800, or i can try for a check raise and if they all check i will win 800(the same amount) or more if it is riased . so i go for the check raise the button a 7 stud player in his second hold em tourney pushes all in about 5200 i call and he shows K/T and i win. if the pot was obviously riased pre flop i would have bet out on the flop hoping to win it right there with a draw on the board.

as i said in my post he's very new to hold em. and i was hungrily expecting the other player to bet the turn as he rarely will check it around 2x, of course this is one of those rarelys.

What an awful play on his part.

I guess your slopwlay worked, he figuerd nobody would check trips twice with 2 flush draws out. But in a tournament, you want to keep the pots small, you should have at least bet the turn. If a flush becomes possible on the river, can you get away from the hand? If not, you grotesquely need to end it, or at least make them pay so you win something from them.
