Agreed. But whether or not either one did anything wrong is a different question.
The real question is, if you hold AQ, how often is the flop K-high? In my experience the answer is about 70%.
I think you just answered your own question. He shouldn't be in a situation where he only has 4500 chips after dumping most of his stack into the hand.
