I played in a home (raked) 1-2 no-limit holdem where one player straddled for $6 almost every hand.

The rule was that the action always started at the player to his right. This meant he virtually had the button position each hand and the player to his right (which was me one time) was under the gun each hand.

I didn't want to say anything to the host because the straddler upped the action considerably for the game and the rake accordingly.

Is there a fairer way to let the straddler straddle each hand and avoid the huge disadvantage to the player to his right (and the huge advantage to the player to his left) and still provide the extra action for the host to rake?

Usually, the person that would be UTG to the BB is the only person allowed to straddle. The next person can double the straddle in some places. I have never seen it go farther than that.

a Mississippi straddle (used to be allowed only in Robinsonville as far as I know) is a straddle from any position - everyone acts in turn and the straddler may choose to raise when it is his turn. I cant recall seeing a Mississippi straddle more than once but I rarely play in Tunica
