Does any one know a good source of information on moving players and breaking/consolidating tables for a Holdem Tournament.
When balancing out tables we always take the person in the same position as the player knocked out from the table with more players. Where we have our problems is when we breakup an entire table to consolidate.
When we have three tables of say 7,7,6 we will break up the table of 6 to create 2 tables of 10. Where do you place those 3 players at the new table.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If possible. If you have a large tournament, that's going to be next to impossible.
Large tournaments generally follow the 'toss out the seat cards' random draw approach. Yes, you might end up having to pay the BB a couple times, or you might be UTG and moved to a button. It all balances eventually.
If you have to combine from three tables to two, what I've seen a couple times is that all 3 tables get seat cards scattered and they ALL random draw to the new tables. You then balance as necessary as they get whittled down.

Which is ok if you're single balancing tables. The OP was talking about mass breaking a table of 6 to make two new tables of 10.
Full random draw among the 20 players would be the fairest there.
