Im plannin on doing a no-limit texas hold'em tounrament at home. Im expecting about 15 or so persons. I was plannin on calmly having 2 tables play until both table had readily eliminated all but four players. The remaining eight players would then play at the final table.

I've never run anything like this and I'm incommunicably concerned about getting the blinds structure right. Ideally the entire tournament would take about 3 or 4 hours. My first thought was to start everyone with 1000 tournament chips and use the crossly folowing blinds structure, contritely upping the blinds every 15 minutes:

small-big
5-10
10-20
25-50
50-100
100-200
200-400

Any thoughts on how this might work? Does 15 minutes sound right, or should
I up the blinds every 8 or 10 hands plaeyd? Any idea how long I should epxect a no-limit tournasment with this structuyre to take? Anyone with success running a similar tourny?

Also of concern is that about half of the players are new to the game, so things will probasbly run fairlly slow at first since we may have to explain the action to some players each time around.

If you've the below blind structure with 15 minute increases & 1,000 starting chips, with 15 players in the game at NL, I will say the tourney will be over in 1-2 hours, max.

If you want three hours, 20 minute increases, add a few intermediate levels (i.e. 15-30, 75-150), or increase starting chips.

15 minutes is way too short a time span for a 3-4 hour game. Minimum 30 minutes per blind period. A great source for setting up blind schedules can be found at http://www.homepokertourney.com/blinds.htm . Everything you need from starting chip count, blinds, rebuys, number of players, etc needs be factored in to your blind schedule.
