Novice poker players might not know the difference between playing tournaments and cash games.

In on-line games there are two options - one is a little safer, the Tournament, and the other, might be more profitable in a quicker manner - and that of course, is the Cash play.

The main difference between the two, is that the tournament game is one in which you use your currency to buy chips, and for the entirety of the game, this is the amount of money that you have to use, so basically, you are putting a cap on your losses, should the poker gods not be with you for that particular game.

People who are inclined to try and try again, would probably be wise to play in tournaments,.

A The cash game on the other hand, is played with real money (bank roll) and it is up to you how much you spend, and when you decide you have made enough or lost enough for you to get up from the table.

where as the tournament is the safer form of poker, the cash game is the fastest way for players to turn a profit while playing poker, a fact that of course makes real money cash games all the more attractive.

But remember, as fast as you can make the money - you can loose it as well.

according to one of the articles I have read on the matter, the most important asset a poker player can have while playing for cash is patience.

As hard as it is to sit and watch the action pass around the table when your having to fold your cards and sit through the action, it needs to be done. A sudden urge to play a hand that carries no strength could well see you getting yourself into a situation that is going to lose you money, either via you limping into the action and then the betting being raised after you have acted or by you hitting your low strength card on the flop to find out that someone seated next to you is holding a pocket over pair.
