Either I really blew this one, or it's just one of those things (clearly I lost the hand). On balance, I think I misplayed it. But this isn't a whine; I'd like to know how I should have played it better. Your guidance would be appreciated:

MTT: 22 entrants. $1 entry, $200 added (so a nice overlay): First 3 pay; 50%, 30%, 20% We are down to the last 7, then this:

ADEPTUS is at seat 1 with 8820.00 Kialpe1234 is at seat 2 with 4055.00 mrblue11 is at seat 3 with 8185.00 jaywop is at seat 4 with 550.00 Palooka is at seat 6 with 3765.00 ted1970ca is at seat 7 with 4380.00 SRP73 is at seat 9 with 2945.00

SRP73 posts the large blind 200.00 ted1970ca posts the small blind 100.00

Dealt to Palooka: Qs, Qc

Pre-flop:

ADEPTUS: Fold Kialpe1234: Fold mrblue11: Raise 400.00 jaywop: Fold

Your action please?

For what it is worth, here is the background:

You have not seen much of Mr Blue, nor he of you, since the final table has only been going a few hands, and he came from the other one. In general the action has been fairly loose and wild, as is usual at this level. I find it difficult to put people on hands in these games, but on balance I do *not* expect this to be one of those cunning minimum raises with AA/KK. Those hands generally tend either to limp (many love slowplaying), or push in the hope of picking up a call from 66 or A9.

The folk who came with you from the other table probably see you as relatively tight (if of course they are watching at all). Your recent action (at the previous table) has been two or three 3*BB blind steals, uncontested. Early on you were involved in a couple of big pots, and both times showed down strong hands to win, but your remaining opponents have almost certainly forgotten this by now.

All comments/suggestions welcomed.

Thanks,

Since you don't tell us what you actually did we can't tell you whether or not you 'blew it', nor how you might have played it better.

At a $1 buy-in you're probably right. In further light of that buy-in amount, I would almost invariably push here in hopes that the raiser, who has you well covered, was acting on soemthing like Ax suited and is likely to call.

So...what happened?

Just me, but in a $1 tourney I'm not folding QQ preflop. Here I'm either pushing or re-raising to like 1200. I don't fold if he pushes.

With the absence of a read, I am reraising a little more than 1000 more chips. I am calling a push against this reraise. I am firmly putting my opponent on Ax, Kx, or a smaller pair.

If the flop comes down with no ace or king, I push. I like this because it is around about a pot size bet that may look like a bluff and get called by a worse hand.

With almost half of my stack in this pot, I would find it very difficult to fold but there are situations that I might... AK on the flop facing a strong bet, an overcard on a suited board that I don't have anything of, a paired board with an overcard... I'm sure there are other situations but those spring to mind.

Basically... I think I have the best hand with those queens and don't want to discourage action. I make the raise that I describe relying on the lack of skill from my opponent who should probably push / pass (and most often pass) with his ace-high or smaller pair holding but at these levels, might make a call from way behind where he might fold to an all in. As I said, I can still get away from this hand
